Welcome to the Telephone Vault. This website is a place where I post photographs of the remnants of one of the most complex communications networks in the United States. The Bell System and AT&T was the once the best phone system in the world. But as the 20th Century came to a close and the breakup of the Bell System complete, this world class network began to fall apart.
I take the time to visit the remains of this defunct systems and document what is left of the once superpower that was the Bell System. On this site, you can find modern photographs, usually taken within the last few years, of the microwave towers, payphones and central offices that made up this comprehensive telecommunications network. And as the world moves to better and fast alternatives than copper based lines, this decrepit system is often left to decay and for me to document.
